Welcome to the AISSA

Championing choice.
Supporting diversity.
Strengthening practice.

Independent education supports South Australia’s social diversity and strengthens educational practice across the state – creating brighter futures for all South Australians.

The Association of Independent Schools of South Australia (AISSA) champions and supports a vibrant and sustainable Independent school sector for South Australia.

Independent schools and early learning centres play a vital role in offering families choice and ensure every child can learn, grow, and thrive in an environment that reflects their needs, values, and aspirations.

Established to represent the needs and aspirations of Independent schools, the AISSA has evolved over time as a trusted peak body. Today we advocate for the sector, whilst providing leadership support, professional development, and evidence-informed consultancy services.

As the sector has grown and diversified, the AISSA has continued to adapt, broadening our expertise, deepening our partnerships, and expanding our support for schools and early learning centres.

Reconciliation

The AISSA is deeply committed to walking alongside Australia’s First Nations communities to support genuine Reconciliation.

We work actively to recognise and respect Australia’s First Peoples and promote Reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Through our actions, we aspire to influence and support schools in our sector to embrace Reconciliation.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Kaurna people, traditional custodians upon whose ancestral lands our office stands, and pay our respect to Elders, past and present. We acknowledge the deep feelings of attachment and relationship of Aboriginal people to Country. We also pay respect to the cultural authority of Aboriginal people from other areas of Australia.
